COVID-19 Update   22-May-2020

All sites are open to full NDHPC members.

We are not accepting new Full or Temporary memberships until further notice.

After our latest dialogue with the landowner of our main site, Woolacombe, we have taken the decision to suspend any additional membership to the NDHPC in order to safeguard our sites for all pilots.

We are temporarily limiting access to all of our sites just to Full members of NDHPC for a while. All of our sites have sensitivity issues so no visiting (temporary) members and no reciprocal arrangements for Condors or South Devon.  We will review this as soon as possible.

All our sites are open but refer to site guides for Pilot ratings, seasonal closures and special safety procedures.  Pilots wishing to fly Cornborough must follow procedures to contact Lomas and have airband radio as the heliport is exceptionally busy at the moment.

We have reassured all our landowners that everyone flying will follow the BHPA guidelines – especially with regard to hygiene, not hanging about, not going into villages, etc.

So please follow these guidelines:

Thanks for your understanding during this difficult time.

NDHPC Committee

The North Devon club is based in the far south west of England, and has existed since the very earliest days of Hang-gliding in the UK, when it was known as North Devon Sailwings.

We are a small group of friendly qualified pilots who look after flying sites around Woolacombe, Putsborough, Barnstaple and Westward Ho! for ourselves and others to enjoy. With plenty of room and almost no airspace restrictions, members can fly as far and as high as they like. The income from visiting pilots taking out Full or Temporary membership, allows the club to carry on, maintain sites and organise Club events and activities.

If you would like to come and fly with us at one of our sites, we please request that you take out a temporary membership, or, even better, if you think you’ll be flying regularly — join the club! We also welcome pilots from other clubs with whom we share reciprocal agreements – see the links page for more details.
